I loved the detailed explanations behind Sastiel. I thought that the evidence was well thought out and the presentation done well. Besides that, I enjoy several of the pairings on this list.
Very rough, written on the fly. Hope you like it.
Castiel held the bottle in his hands, unsure of whether or not he truly wanted to ingest even more alcohol given his previous encounters with the liquid.
“Cas, come on, it’s beer not poison. Trust me, if you can down a liquor…
Summery: A PG (maybe Pg-13 for certain sentences) drabble of domestic Calthazar based on a request. Hope that you enjoy. Feel free to send me messages with your thoughts/comments.I feel it is a bit…stiff, but maybe I’ll rewrite it and make it longer down the road.
AU in meaning that the whole purgatory being popped, Balthazar dying, huge falling out between Cas and the boys, all didn’t happen. Only way I could make this really fit. It still fits within the basic universe, in which Raphael wanted to start the apocalypse again and there was a war Castiel was fighting with a side of angels that basically wanted him to lead them.
The word angel brought many connotations of purity, ferocity, simplicity, not kicking back on a couch with a sweet flavored wine and a movie about the corruption of faith on pause, which is exactly what Castiel and Balthazar were doing.
Balthazar had recently introduced Castiel to televised entertainment, and some of his favorite things to show the naive being were ironic religious themed documentaries and movies. Ancient Aliens happened to be a particularly lovely show in his opinion, that made him laugh. If only humans had actually paid attention. It was quite funny how some of it was right and some of it was wrong. He couldn’t necessarily fault the historians or scientists either because they were truly being quite logical and searched for proof. But nor did his side with the religious crowds either. As Castiel had said to the Winchesters before, the bible gets more wrong than it does right. Besides, he was an angel and he didn’t even understand everything. Still, if irony alone could kill, it would have snuffed him out with making him laugh to death.
“You can’t really blame them for thinking the way they do. For two thousand years father and the angels were absent from giving guidance to them. Failed to keep the original messages pure, stories accurate, and faith strong. Though it is surprising the numerous claims of alien interference.” Castiel said as he came into the room holding two crystal glasses, holding them out for Balthazar to take as he sat down next to him.
“It is logical. They may be hairless apes, but I have to say, at least a small number of them try to think with what they have to go on. Besides, with all the other gods and goddesses running around it is hard to get the story straight. After watching this long enough I’m beginning to question whether Dad even came first. If human beings can create this so called “God particle” in a lab, whose to say that the first thing to be created was Him?” Balthazar shrugged a bit, bare shoulders rubbing against cool leather cushions. He poured the now aired wine into each of their glasses, and bringing his to his lips immediately. Heavenly.
“I suppose we will never know. Though you’re humor is still filled with bad jokes. Watching movies like this for example?” Castiel smiled, not looking at his lover as he took his glass from the table. He’d drank before, copious quantities of alcohol when all seemed helpless. It had worked for his best friend, human friend, Dean who drowned himself in the sense dulling, foul tasting spirits. And Castiel copied. Losing faith was one thing, but having to lose faith in his father? That hurt more than turning his back on corrupted archangels for the betterment of humankind through saving free will. But now that all of that was over, now that the Winchesters were safe from the wrath of both above and below, Castiel himself managed to find a slice of peace for himself on Earth. Funny, in finding that peace he was back to tasting alcohol again. But this time, it was sweet, barely a fraction of the amount it would take to intoxicate, and he was drinking with a friend, a lover. Much more preferred than a solitary bender that left his head aching.
Living as humans did, in a house with their significant others, hadn’t really passed through Castiel’s mind before. Homes seemed so confining, so stationary. In heaven the plains rolled out into endlessness and wonder, space enough to travel freely. A space that now seemed so empty with so few angels, only 3 million left after the war. But Raphael was dead, purgatory in the end had never been opened, and Castiel managed to scrap out a victory with the help of both the Winchesters (at their insistence) and even Crowley who did not like the sound of an apocalypse part two.
After all of that, Heaven seemed so empty, so cold. He went up at least a few times every month to ensure the peace was kept, to make sure that human affairs were left to the humans, and then came back down to Earth, to his home. Balthazar had chosen this home as one of his hide aways. He’d offered it to Castiel at anytime he wanted. And now, now they had each other fully. Their relationship filled with love and all of the little things human beings did to make themselves happy and content. Granted there were some difference in angelic expression, and some human customs were still strange to Castiel. Strange, but not unpleasant. Like making love for the first time, all the other times after. Or going to the store to “pick things up” not because he and Balthazar truly needed supplies in the same way humans did, but Balthazar insisted it was fun. They’d spent too much time as angels he’d said. Time to try being somewhat human for a while.
Balthazar looked at Castiel from the corner of his eyes.
“And humor escapes you most of the time.” He smiled. “So, are you comfortable?”
“Yes.” And the now ruler of heaven leaned in to put his head against Balthazar’s shoulder.
“Good. I think you like this fellow mostly. He’s actually quite funny and very logical.” And Balthazar pressed play on Religilous, a film by Bill Maher.
So no, the word angel did not convey sitting on a couch watching movies with your same sex lover, but it did convey love, deep and lasting. And as Castiel’s head rested on Balthazar’s shoulders, feeling the rises and falls of his laughter, he felt more at home, more warmth here than he had in Heaven for a long, long time.
Ben Elude said that he was going to address a certian pairing that the fans view in a certain way (paraphrasing) which is basically linked to Destiel…sorry to say this:
Alright, not trying to be an ass, just wanted to get that out of the way before I begin.
I wouldn’t get my hopes up. SPN has been primarily focused (when it comes to Sam and Dean) on heterosexuality. Yes, there are those inside jokes, the occasional show of homosexual characters and what not. But as much as I would love the addressing to be an admission of deeper romantic feelings of Cas and Dean towards one another, I don’t have hope that this will be how it would be addressed. I figure it would be addressed in a manor that would kind of cannon wise make the ship non…what’s the word? Valid I suppose. Yes, the ship is based in the fans perceptions and what not, but is drawn from subtle subtext in the show itself. I fear that this subtext will be addressed in such a way as to bring a cannon close to the ship. Or, perhaps they may continue to leave them open ended where it comes to Cas and Dean. The argument that Castiel technically is a genderless angel in the body of a man and therefore doesn’t care about male/female has been made, as well as that Dean loves the being that Cas is, not the body. But it would be nice (for me seeing as I don’t think they will make Dean have a cannon homosexual relationship with Castiel) is if they left it open like that have for so long. I love the theories of Dean’s bisexuality, or just his love for Cas, and all that stuff, drawn (as mentioned) from the cannon material.
Sorry this is so long and rambling…I just…I can’t get hopeful that the “resolving” will be a positive for the fans that enjoy this ship. *shrug* Take whatever you will from this. I apologize for the negativity that seeps from this post.
Even if I am correct in the end, those who enjoy will continue to ship regardless :)
Ben Edlund said he was aware that a ~certain two characters~ and their ~relationship~ was perceived in a ~certain way~ by fans and that he would address/resolve it…soon - from the Spotlight on Ben Edlund panel, SDCC 2012
He rambled and hedged a bit (and was generally quirky and delightful), but this was in the middle of him talking about how he likes to write Castiel, so do what you will with this information….

Alright, so I’ve come up with a prompt that I think is pretty damn good if I do say so myself. And so, I’m posting it up here for you guys to read. If anyone wants to do if, fine, just send me a message letting me know you’ve taken it up because that would be pretty cool. And I’ve got one other request before I post the prompt, please don’t equate all emotional moments, or loving feelings as being a “chick thing”. In both the series and the fictions, it disturbs me to see this often used. You can say that they are uncomfortable displaying certain emotions but that they have them, without equating any kind of heavy emotions as being exclusively female. Thank you. Now the prompt:
You know when Dean and Cas first got to purgatory and the first think Cas did was leave Dean after telling him where they were. Dean looks up and Cas is gone? Well I think multiple views at that point in time could be taken. Focusing on Castiel’s obvious blind fear and then Dean’s wtf disbelief as well as a sense of abandonment coupled with fear of his own. After a few days they actually run into each other again. Something I would love to see is Castiel getting angry and explaining to Dean why if he wasn’t so un-trusting of him, gave him a chance, just like he’d done for him on so many occasions, they might’ve never had a problem in the first place with their relationship, and that Dean is just acting as a moral officer not understanding that Castiel did all of this not just to win a war, but to protect Sam and Dean from Heaven’s wrath. For certainly the remaining armies of Heaven under Raphael would’ve succeeded in busting the cage and freeing both Lucifer and Michael and wouldn’t have hesitated to grab both Sam and Dean and put the apocalypse back on track. And of course going over what Dean was feeling at the idea of Castiel opening up his world, to unforeseeable danger and how he was right about that.
And then they have to figure out the mechanics of their new reality. For example, do they need to sleep, eat, all of that kind of stuff (mostly of course it being Dean), and how are they going to work together. You can choose to make it romantic, you can make it saucy, I only ask that you don’t make it fluffy IF you end up using this prompt.
Ps. If I don’t reply to your message, I never got it. I always reply to messages. So please send again ^^
SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE MISSED OUT ON THE LAST FEW EPISODES OF SEASON 7!!!!!
We have gone for the ride down the road of the Winchester brothers. From the beginning with the death of their mother, heaven, hell, Earth and now purgatory. After hearing about purgatory since the length of season 6, we finally make it to the actual place. And it is something out of the darkest, original Grimm’s fairy tales. All the monsters are there. And guess what, so are Castiel (what’s left of him) and Dean (who I wanted to slap often, but damn I still love him).
My questions, when I address the fandom to gain perspective, I tend to be afraid are silly, unintelligent. I hope not, I tend to devote actual brain power when thinking about my questions.
The afterlife, in hell the time weighs on those trapped inside forever and ever. In Heaven it is timeless, no passage of time to drive one insane, and now purgatory. Purgatory is a hellish place cast in forests and darkness and instead of the purely human souls we are accustomed to seeing, it is filled with those who had been transformed in their life into/always born to be, supernatural creatures (vampires, werewolves, shifters, etc).
Now, if the person was human and transformed into a monster, why is it that if they were a good enough person who just had something bad happen to them that death (not meaning Death with the capital D) doesn’t clean the monster out of them and send them up or down? Why do they have to go to this horrible place automatically because of what they are rather than who they are (Amy the Kitsune for example).
And for Purgatory, doesn’t it just seem like a type of hell unto itself? To me, it is almost an extension of the dangers of Earth. You could get ripped to shreds and die just like on Earth, but if you die in purgatory then your soul ceases to exist and poof, bye bye. Does one need to sleep, eat, drink, in purgatory, or does that cease because you’re no longer in a body. In hell one can certainly bleed but that could just be because of the type of magic the place held (evil and dark designed to torture but never destroy a soul). And in Heaven…I get the feeling that seeing as no time passes, you never want for anything, probably no human issues to deal with, so are you always awake?
And as for purgatory, it was created to hold the leviathans according to Death himself. So why did it become the after life for all the “freaks”? How? Did God decide that? And if so, why didn’t he stop Eve’s creations from spreading across the Earth (she was starting up while he was still in the picture). He separated the dangerous leviathans, why not the other dangerous ones too?
Do demons go to purgatory when they die, or do they not exist given that they are twisted souls being destroyed? Angels do not have souls, so how could they progress to any kind of after life (going off the theory that Gabriel and Balthazar might be in purgatory)?
And another thing, does it bother anyone else how reapers operate? It seems that they show up sometimes to take someone’s last breath and cart their soul up or down, but seriously, always they act cryptic. Like anyone wants to go to hell and the reapers pass it off as if they are going to take you on a pleasant drive (they can’t tell you where you’re going and so you know they play the whole “come with me” game to anyone). But if that is the case, why don’t they show up to EVERYONE who dies? Like the sheriff? Granted in the sheriff’s case there was a powerful ghost keeping everyone trapped, but a reaper surely can over power a human ghost? And when they do show up, do they make the call as to whether you were good enough for heaven? How do they send you up or down? Do they bring monsters to purgatory? There just seems a lo to of gaps in reapers to me.
What do you guys all think? Feel free to answer here or drop me a line at my inbox. If I don’t answer that means tumblr ate it, send it again.

Extra Warning: There are spoilers for seasons 5-7 so if you have yet to see these seasons in full, be warned.
Speculations about the upcoming Supernatural episodes have sent my dash into a whirlwind of dizzying anticipation fueled by “oh they better not!”
Apparently there is a rumor going around that Crowley (was a punk ass crossroads demon turned to King of Hell) will soon leave the show in a probably violent way AKA: death.
Given that Supernatural, since roughly season 5 started all the way till now, is having a trend of killing off beloved side characters (in order to elicit strong emotional responses) in mass with seasons 6-7 being some of the heavy hitters, it is devastating to think that yet another fantastic, easily expandable character will be tossed by the wayside.
Gabriel has been petitioning for the restoration of his life (meaning the devoted fans of the tricky archangel) for a long while now with no avail. This caused some stirring given that Castiel was brought back but not him, not Ellen, Jo, etc. And even now, Bobby hasn’t been brought back to flesh, but still exists in ghostly form which is more than other characters have gotten.
That all being said, Crowley (author’s personal bias) is one of the best, evil characters to come to this show. Meg being another (and one of the few surviving female memebers of the cast that makes regular apperances). They bring a richness to the show, diversify the idea that the main focus only has to be the Winchesters. Why can’t we have focus brought to these well rounded characters. Of course have the main boys in, show their interactions, but can’t we just have more love spread to these disposable side characters? Using disposable given that’s how they’ve been treated.
Balthazar for example has so much more to offer. Granted the arguement that he was just a cardboard replacement for the snarky space left for Gabriel has been brought up (at least on my dash). But he was his own persona, had his own strengths and weakness that barely were tapped. He made limited apperances in season 6 and after we just fell in love with him he gets killed.
Supernatural team (speaking to all of them) we love you, please don’t think we don’t even if we use harshness sometimes. But please understand, we are tired of the recycled notion that everyone but the Winchesters must die or suffer. We want more than that. Please, use, abuse, expand these other characters, but please don’t take them away from us!
The promo for 7x17 is fairly clear, Castieliscoming back. But of course, there is a catch (the one I had mentioned before that I was weary of), he doesn’t remember who he is, let alone Dean. That sucks T.T
Now as someone on one of my earlier post made clear, it was probably to explain where Cas had gone, why he didn’t contact the Winchesters. Fair point. I’m just, kind of crying on the inside just a bit that he can’t remember.
To be fair, I am probably very biased. Amnesia plot lines always bugged me. Most cases of actual amnesia are short term and limited (from what numerous psychology classes have taught) and just having a character lose their identity, to have to go on a huge re-discovery, rubs me the wrong way 90% of the time.
I can’t really explain it. I just don’t feel that it is an overly great plot line. It is often used and what not, but that’s not the problem I don’t think. I just don’t like seeing my charactersnotrecall who they are, what they are. Like when Donna in Doctor Who lost her memories….heart breaking.
I was hoping that there would be much more to Castiel not only being alive, but being reunited with Dean than the fall back of amnesia (not dissing the writers because this is a valid plot device that works in the case). I liked the idea of him being kept alive maybe by the leviathans or something. Something different. Then again, this episode will probably give me a heart attack of awesomeness when it airs so I’m not pre-judging the actual episode!
I pretty much love all of SPN in all the seasons. All the times I ever said I wasn’t going to watch, obviously not true.
Something exciting in this promo was Meg. I liked Meg’s original actor, and this one is just as good. To see Meg come up again, awesome. She’s one of the few female characters actually left the hell alone on this show (wish that a number of the strong female characters were kept on the show damn it) and I hope it stays this way because she is badass. And hoping that Crowley comes back!
So now that I’ve got that rambling mess out of the way I’m curious to see what all of you guys think.
After the leviathan arc is complete, where else do you think the show could/will go?
The appearance of Castiel is looming ever closer in the show Supernatural and I can’t help but think about what will happen. Now, my whole opinion (OPINION, that’s all, you’re free to your’s but please be polite and respect mine) of the Castiel thing was that he wasn’t a villain. As I’m sure many fans of the character himself have noticed, when he rebelled against heaven, died more than once, it was all for the sake of two human beings who treated him like a tool rather than a buddy half the time. Now please don’t mistake that statement as anger towards the boys. I love Sam and Dean, they are what pulled me into the show in the first place. But every now and again I’ve looked back on season five, season six and found that there wasn’t even the benefit of the doubt half the time. They used his abilities often, disregarded his feelings when it came to the deaths of his brothers/sisters (whom he had to kill), and when he said that there was a civil war in heaven, they constantly got angry at him, frustrated (granted, Sam for the better part of season 6 was soulless so I suppose he gets a pass) when he didn’t come down to help them immediately. I understand that this writing isn’t exactly organized and I apologize for that.
Listen, I do know that Sam and Dean (Dean seemingly more) loved Cas very much. However, like Bobby, I think that he was often taken for granted. I found Cas to have been in a very stuck situation, honestly, purgatory to me did seem like a valid option. I would rather Castiel be in charge than Raphael. And I understand things went wrong, I do, the whole be corrupted by power thing (even though a tiny amount of good came from it such as healing of mass sickness and disbanding the KKK) and the swallowing down leviathans, those both were the biggest kinks in the chain. But regardless, watching the whole situation, I understand how it happened, why Castiel was pushed so much into this mess and I am sympathetic to how he ended up.
And remember, I did say that Sam and Dean did love Cas and there were plenty of times that they showed it one way or another. Dean for example, did not want to believe that Castiel was working with Crowley no matter what, until there was no other plausible evidence to the contrary, when Cas himself gave it away.
This whole situation was made of gray. It’s hard to say if the Winchesters would’ve actually found another way for Cas to win a massive civil war that would’ve decided the utter fate of the Earth all for which he’d fought so hard to get rid of. I mean, Castiel went down this whole course for Sam and Dean. He didn’t want them to have to go through this again, to suffer further. The road to heaven is not paved with good intentions sure, but I would like to think that they count for something damn it. Castiel was trying. He wanted to be good, his whole plan was to save the world and, more closer to his heart, his friends.
With his return, I don’t know what will happen. I’m positive (since 7 is the season for character deaths) that he won’t last long. I’m sure that he’ll be around long enough to win forgiveness for the wrongs he did do (hoping anyway). I’m just hoping he doesn’t come back with amnesia, that would just…that would not be okay with me. I really hope that he’ll be around for season 8. I dislike when characters are killed just to make the audience squirm. I really don’t like that. Unless it furthers the plot in some way, I don’t see the need for character deaths just for emotional value (the last Harry Potter book for example) even if death is common (and in this case an elderly man with a sarcastic and jaded sense of reality) for that universe.
What do you guys think of all of this?

Disclaimer (also found on Disclaimer page): This blog may contain spoilers. No money is being made off of this. This is covered under Fair Use.
I’ll admit, within the past few weeks I was beginning to lose faith (Castiel forbid!) in the Supernatural world. While being a huge fan (that was the original reason for joining this site) my heart could only take so damn much. Death after death, betrayals, gender role issues, trust issues, etc. all mixing into a cocktail of damn it. But I chose to work though the pain. Any SPN fan will tell you, you’ve got to be tough to withstand some of the blows that come our way. So, when on a few Fridays back, when the show decided to not come and bless my television screen with its wonderment, it had to be a mistake right? No way the network would let me get kicked in the chops with miserable sadness of the previous episode without a glimmer of hope of a greener grass episode the following Friday. Wrong. I’m not being judgmental of the network for whatever choice led to the past few weeks being deprived of impalas, salt rings, leviathans, sarcasm, and good looking males for I was assuming that the show would return. It was only a matter of waiting. Note that I didn’t say patiently.
The grand return. Oh how exciting it will be! I’ve heard many fans have dropped off since the ending of season 6 or the beginning of season 7, but I know that there are many who are still picking up their hearts off the floor and holding their breath to see what is coming out from the shadows next. Part of my anticipation comes from the news that Castiel will be back in the show by episode 17.
The possible return of Castiel has cause a buzzing of sorts to fill the fandom forums and tumblr blogs with theories, hopes, and rants. It is all mixed and muddled as to how he will return, will he be human, will he still be an angel, will he be in a different vessel than Misha Collins (in my opinion, I would rather see him as Misha. I love the character very much and could get used to a different face, but I would prefer the one that started it all), how will he be accepted if at all back into the Winchester’s lives, will he be kick-ass powerful and able to bring Bobby back. It is all speculation that leads to heated debates and passionate feelings in some. Regardless of who thinks what and what they want, it supposedly is going to happen and we will all be able to see what happens. I only hope that whatever does happen will be able to satisfy the majority and not cause figurative blood baths on my dash. Another big issue about the return of Castiel is the fact that the Gabriel fans (from my understanding there are multiple names for them (I’m one of them :) ) have been begging, petitioning literally, for the return of the tricksy archangel with all mighty demi-god powers with the romantic life style to boot. I have mixed feelings about this for while I understand the position, would love to see the return of Gabriel, I doubt that he will come back. His death just seemed to…permanent, too dramatic to make me think they will bring him back. I also am a fan of all the characters for the most part so just having Castiel coming back makes me happy.
What I hope to see in this season is more of Crowley honestly. I want to see him more, I think that Mark Sheppard is a great actor who gives a delightful chill up my spine with the sensual, very dark, yet humorous performance he does when being Crowley.
Thus far, my favorite episode was one of those side type episodes that didn’t truly give much in the way of over all story arc, but did give a bunch of giggles and happiness. The episode where Becky gets Sam to marry her, priceless. I thought it was greatly written enough to not justify with what Becky did, but gave her a sympathetic outlook that made her much more dynamic than a one-dimensional stereotype of obsession. I wrote a long blog entry about this particular subject, if you want to read it (I hope that you do ^^) it would be far back on my blog, you’d have to go back a number of pages to find it but I think that it has some merit.
Over all, I’m just happy that the stand-off is ending and new episodes will great me after work to bring a good ending to a stressful day.
Thanks for reading!
